Retro desk isn't Retro Anymore

This is a desk that I think is from the 40's, but I am not totally sure.
I wasn't really sure what to do with this desk, I had to stare at it for a while, ponder, walk away and just think about it. Sometimes I have a piece that is just easy to figure out and I know from the beginning what I want to do. Sometimes Retro furniture takes more time to figure out. Yesterday as I stripped the varnish off the top and the drawers I continued to run my ideas through my head. It wasn't until I was almost ready to go to sleep last night that "THE" idea popped into my head.
I forgot to take pictures of the desk before I stripped it, so this is what I have.

The top will be sanded down a little so  it won't look so busy in the end. Still a lot left to do, but this is a good start.

It is hard to take good pictures at night and in the garage, so better pictures
will be coming soon.

Cottage Chic Signs

I have really enjoyed making these signs, and they have been selling so well that I have had to make more. I decided to add more variety and have now made a HOPE and HOME sign.

These are unique picture holders, because all you have to do is clip your picture on and you can easily change the picture out.

I made a bunch of these signs that were not linked together, but I forgot to take pictures of them. This is the only one I linked together, but you can get the idea of what the others looked like.

French Country Dresser

Well lets Just say it did not start out as a French country dresser, but
it is transforming into one.

This dresser is 36" wide and 52" tall, with 3 huge drawers on the bottom, 2 long drawers and 2 smaller drawers on top. They all open nice and smooth and are clean and nice inside.

I thought this dresser was going to be simple but this one has required a lot of cutting in, and trimming out, so it can get a little tedious. In the end the extra time is always worth it!

The stenciling is hard to see in these pictures because the lighting is bad, but one it is finished I'll get better pictures.

Mahogany Desk

This is a very nice mahogany desk but with old dated and cracking varnish it needs a face lift.
So here we go!

Time to get out the stripper and revive these drawers

It is worth the extra work to get rid of the old shiny varnish and bring out the natural mahogany.

All day painting, but it is worth the end result. There was a lot of cutting in with the paint brush, so it is a good thing I am good at it.

The drawers still need to be waxed and they need new hardware, and the body of the desk needs light sanding and to be waxed.
